Robert Plympton

Robert Plympton was born in 1590 at Southampton, Hampshire, England.1 He married Jane Bent, daughter of Robert Bent and Agnes Gosling, say 1614.2 He died between 1631 and 1638.3

Some researchers (see the Ancestral File for numerous examples) have interpreted Chase's work to show that John and Henry Plimpton of Massachusetts were also sons of Robert and Jane Plympton. There is nothing in his work that suggests that, but he does sequentially number the first Plympton of each line found in America. The will of Robert Bent, Jane's father, made about 1630, fails to mention either of the two purported sons, and they appear to have had no associations with either of the other known children.4,5
