Obadiah Force was born in 1691 at New York.2,4 He married Joanna Manning about 1729.2,4 He died in 1789 at Essex Co., New Jersey.2,4

Obadiah was in New Jersey by Jan 1734/5 when Petter van til Burgh sued Obadiah Force and his wife Joanna, and they appeared in Court.

On 3 Oct 1750, Obadiah Force, James, Joseph and John Badgley Jr. were in a hunting party when John was injured and later died at Elizabethtown Parish.

An account book of Joseph Camp, of Newark shows a charge, 15 Jun 1751, of two bushels of wheat to Obadiah Force.

In the New Jersey Court of Oyer & Terminer - Record Book in Princeton Library, session held in Essex County at Newark, 16 Jun 1755, The King vs Obadiah Force, on recognition of a misdemeanor; defendent being called, appeared.

Obadiah and his brother John are believed to be settlers on lot 78 of the Neioaia Mountain Purchase per Thomas Ball's Map of 1764.

On 12 Mar 1765 and 10 Mar 1767, Obadiah Force and others were chosen to be overseers of highways in Newark and at this time he probably lived near Whippany and Hanover.

In an Essex Co. Court Record of 1789, Obadiah Force applied for support by his chidren. A light pencil note indicates his wife was Joanna.2,5
