John Eaton was christened 26 December 1590 at Hatton, Warwickshire, England.1 He married Anne (---) about 1620.1 He married Phebe (---) 20 November 1661 at Haverhill, Essex Co., Massachusetts.1,2,3 He died 29 October 1668 at Haverhill.1

John Eaton immigrated to Salisbury, Massachusetts about 1640. He was a cooper and was first granted land in Salisbury in 1640. His youngest child was granted land in Hatton, England in Sep 1639. He was made a Freeman in Nov 1645. He apparently was later added to a 1639 list of Salisbury proprietors. He removed to Haverhill, being a proprietor there in 1648. In Apr 1650 he was chosen and sworn clerk of the Haverhill market, and in Apr 1652, made "commissioner to end small causes." He served on a trial jury, 31 Mar 1646, and on a grand jury, Sep 1646. He appears in a few land records (Old Norfolk Co. Deeds, 1: 22, 44).

His will, dated 6 Aug 1660 and probated 13 2m [Apr] 1669, mentions "present wife" [name not given]; sons Thomas and John; daughters Browne, Davis, and Ingalls; grandchild Thomas, son of son John; grandchildren John Davis and John Ingalls; son[in-law] James Davis; grandchild Thomas Eaton; son Thomas's son Thomas; Hester Davis; son Browne; three daughters, Ann Elizabeth, and Ruth; daughter Ruth Ingalls; son[-in-law] George Browne (Probate Records of Essex Co., Massachusetts, 1:155-158).1,2,3
