Matilda Caroline Higginson was born 27 August 1841 at Thormanby, Easingwold, Yorkshire, England.1,2,3,5 She was baptized 2 November 1841 at Thormanby .2 She married William Leonard Robinson, son of William Robinson and Elizabeth Manfield, 30 April 1864 at Hillingdon, Uxbridge, Middlesex, England.6,7,4 She died 1 April 1909 at Denver, Arapahoe Co., Colorado.8,6 She was buried 3 April 1909 at Fairmount Cemetery, Denver, Arapahoe Co., Colorado.8

Matilda had enough by 1883, and apparently at the invitation of some relatives (perhaps Higginsons), took her ten children (ranging in age from 4 to 18) and left England bound for America from Liverpool, arriving in Philadelphia, 13 March 1883, on the American Line steamer, S.S. Lord Gough.9
