Joseph Grafton was born say 1598.2 He married an unknown person say 1621.2,3,4,5 He married Mary Moore, daughter of Thomas Moore and Ann (---), in August 1631 at Great Yarmouth, Norfolk, England.1 He married Bethia Rea before 1680.3 He died about 24 June 1682 at Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts.6

Joseph Grafton was named in a deposition as part owner (along with Ralph Henfield and William Andrews of Cambridge) of the Diligence which was taken by the French off Cape Cod in 1645; the ship's company were set ashore on an uninhabited island. The deposition was made by:
