John Hanson was born 27 November 1746 at Dover, Strafford Co., New Hampshire.2 He married Sally Getchel.3 He died in 1803 at Rochester, Strafford Co., New Hampshire.3
Rochester was the parent town of Milton which was formed in 1802.
John and Sally Hanson lived in Milton, New Hampshire. John was killed while working out his taxes on the highway, being crushed by a load of stone. A family legend records Sally's premonition of her husband's death: She was washing some clothes at the brook when a drop of blood appeared in a clean place. She rinsed it off, but another drop appeared and was scarcely washed away when a third appeared. Filled with apprehension, Sally ran toward home and demanded that an approaching neighbor tell her the bad news.
Sally struggled on alone, and after the household broke up, she lived with some of her older children. She lived to a very old age.3
