     Martha Emerson was born 28 November 1662 at Gloucester, Essex County, Massachusetts.1 She was the daughter of John Emerson and Ruth Symonds.1 She married William Cogswell, son of William Cogswell and Susannah Hawkes, 9 October 1685 at Ipswich, Essex County, Massachusetts.2
