Montague John Wynyard was born 17 February 1781.2 He married Jane Lascelles, daughter of General Francis Lascelles and Ann Catley, 21 February 1802 at Parish Church of Burghclere, Hampshire, England.2,5,6 He died 11 December 1857 at West Rounton, Yorkshire, England.2 He was buried at West Rounton and his headstone reads:

Sacred to the memory of Rev'd Montague John Wynyard for many years Rector of West Rounton & Martin Gregory of York

Died 11th December 1857 Aged 77 years

He was from the parish of St. MaryleBone, Middlesex when he was married, and his first child was baptised there.

The front of the West Rounton parish register includes a note: "The Rev'd Montague J. Wynyard formerly an Officer in the Army was Vicar of Brafferton and in 1822 exchanged with Mr. Grey for West Rounton."7,5
