Paul Dewey, son of Israel Dewey and Lydia Moseley, was born at Westfield, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts, 6 March 1739.1 He died at Lenox, Berkshire Co., Massachusetts, 8 August 1827.1

Paul married (1) Susan Reed, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), in 1763;1 he married (2), as her 2nd husband, Hannah (Sabin) Crawford, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), in 1788.1

Paul was a farmer.

He appears as a private in Capt. Oliver Belding's co., Col. John Brown's regt., from 21 Sep to 14 Oct 1777, serving to the north. He was a sergeant in Capt. Joseph Raymond's co., Col. Israel Chapin's rgt., from 18 Oct 18 to 21 Nov 1777, raised to reinforce the Continental Army at Claverack. He was a private in Capt. Isaac Marsh's co., Col. Sear's Berkshire Co. regt., stationed at Fort Plain, under Brig-Gen Gates, from 21 July to 2 Nov 1781.1
