Emerson Cogswell, son of William Cogswell and Martha Emerson, was born about 1699.1,2 He died at Concord, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, 29 March 1788, age 89.2

Emerson married Mary Pecker, daughter of James Pecker and Susannah [Edwards], at Ipswich, Essex Co., Massachusetts, 30 December 1736.3,4

Emerson Cogswell was a tanner and courier. After his marriage, he resided some years in Ipswich. His house stood near the present station on the Eastern Railroad (as of 1884, the site of Damon's Block). He did business near the stone bridge in Ipswich.5
