Charles Spooner Bentley, son of Caleb Bentley and Elizabeth Allen, was born at Rensselaer Co., New York, 16 December 1809.1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9,10,11 He died at Elbridge, Onondaga Co., New York, 20 August 1901,11,2,12 and was buried in the Kelloggsville Cemetery, Sempronius, Cayuga Co., New York.2

Charles married Ann Eliza Jones, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), 29 July 1830.13,14

Charles Spooner Bentley was a private and served in in Company G of the 16th New York Heavy Artillery, enlisting at Auburn, Cayuga Co., New York, 31 December 1863, to serve three years. He was absent, sick in the hospital at Fort Monroe, Virginia when the company was mustered out..15
