Garcia I, Count of Castile, son of Fernan Gonzáles, Count of Castile and Sancha of Navarre, was born about 940.1 He died at a battle near Córdoba, Spain, 29 July 995,1 and was buried at St. Peter of Cerdaña, Spain.1

Garcia married Ava, of Ribagorza, daughter of Raimundo II, Count of Ribagorza and Garsendis, between 958 and 961.1
