Johan George Shidler, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born at Hanau, Hessen-Nassau, Preussen, Germany, in 1714.1,2 He died at West Bethlehem, Washington Co., Pennsylvania, 1784.2

Johan married Margaret Neff, daughter of Jacob Neff and Catherine (---), at Kreutz Creek, Lancaster Co., Pennsylvania, 20 December 1739.3,2

Johan George Shidler arrived at Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, 1 September 1736 on the Harle of London, Ralph Harle, Master, from Rotterdam, last from Cowes.4,5,2

Johan was naturalized in October 1743, which, sometime before 1 June 1744, was certified by the Provincial Court of Maryland. Earlier, 25 September 1743, David Candler had certified George had received communion at the Frederick Lutheran Church, communion being a requirement of naturalization.6,7,8
