Sir William Douglas, Knt., 1st Earl of Douglas, son of Sir Archibald Douglas, Knt. and Beatrice Lindsay, was born about 1330.1 He died of a fever at Douglas Castle, Scotland, before 24 April 1384, and was buried at Melrose, Scotland.1

He had an illigitimate son with Margaret Stewart, Countess of Angus.2,3
