Gilbert de Gant
Gilbert de Gant, son of Raoul de Gant, lord of Alost in Flanders and Gisele of Luxembourg, died about 1095.1
Gilbert married Alice de Montfort, daughter of Hugh de Montford, Lord of Montford sur Risle and Alice de Beaufort.1
He probably arrived in England in 1066; was a commander in York in 1068, and was taken prisoner there by the Danes in 1069. He was a tenant -in-chief and one of the largest landholders in co. Lincoln in 1086, Folkingham being the head of his barony.1,2
