John Wetherell, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born about 17161 but is perhaps the John Wetherill, son of George Wetherill, baptized at Strensall, Yorkshire, England, 28 August 1715.2 He died at Hutton Sessay, Yorkshire, England, 1 April 1802, age 86,1 and was buried at Hutton Sessay.1
John married Mary Peacock, daughter of Dennis Peacock and Elizabeth Johnson, at Hutton Sessay, 31 January 1739/40.3

This is the last Will and Testament of me John Wetherill of Hutton in the parish of Sessay in the county of York, Gentleman, Dated this twenty third day of July in the year of our Lord one thousand seven hundred and Seventy seven.
I do hereby ratify and confirm all bonds whatsoever executed by me wherein my eldest son Thomas Wetherill can claim any interest thereto.
I give and desire to my son John Wetherill and [___________]Lands and Tenements situate standing lying and being at Barthorp and West Grafton in the said County of York together with all the appurtenances to the same belonging to hold to my said son John his Heirs and assigns forever.
I also ratify and confirm the [Surender?] I have this Day Surendered of my Estate at Helperby to my son George Witherill. I also give and bequeath unto my Daughter Eizabeth Barker the Sum of fifty pounds to be paid to her by my Executors hereinafter named with twelve months next after my decease.
I also give and bequeath unto my Daughters Ann, Hannah and Isabella the Sum of fifty pounds apiece to be paid to them or their legal Representatives by my said Executor as manner above directed to be paid to my Daughter Elizabeth.
I also give and bequeath unto my son Thomas Wetherill the Sum of Two hundred and fifty poiunds in order to put and place the same out at Interest and the Interest arising therefrom to pay unto Daughter Mary Smith for and during the term of her Natural life and from and after her decease then to pay and divide the same amongst all and every her Child or Children when he she or they shall arrive at the respective ages of twenty four years. If they should die before their ages of twenty four years And I do hereby order and direct that the interest so given to my said Daughter her except for the sum notwithsanding her coverture shall be a sufficient discharge.
I also give and devise unto my said daughter Elizabeth Barker all my lands and tenements lying and being at Newton upon Ouse in the said County of York. To hold to my said Daughter Elizabeth Barker her Heirs and asssigns forever.
And as to all the rest and residue of my personal estate and Effects I give and bequeath unto my said two Sons John and George Wetherill Subject to the payments of the mentioned Legacys my just debts and funeral expences and do hereby constitute and appoint my said two sons John and George joint Executors of this my last Will and Testament.
