Barnabas Horton, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born about 1600.1 He died at Southold, Suffolk Co., New York, 13 July 1680,2,3 and was buried at the Burying Ground of First Presbyterian Church, Southold, Suffolk Co., New York.2
Barnabas married (1) Ann Smith, whose parents are unknown (or not traced), at Leicestershire, England, February 1621/22;4,5 he married (2) Mary Langton, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), say 1624.4,6,5
His stone has been reinscribed. The main inscription reads:
Around the outside edge of the stone is inscribed:
"HERE LYETH BURIED THE BODY OF BARNABAS HORTON BORN AT MOUSELY IN LESER=SHIRE IN OLD ENGLAND & DYED AT SOUTH=HOLD THE 13 DAY OF JULY 1680 AGED 80 YEARS."
Below the Barnabas' epitaph was added:

I Barnabas Horthon of SouthHold in the East Riding of Yorkshire upon LongIsland Calling to Remembrance the uncertainty of this Temporall Life; And finding sundry Distempers dayly - growing upon me Doe now make this my Last Will & Testamt And thereby Dispose of my Earthly Estate in maner ffolowing -
And first of all I give unto my Eldest Sone Joseph Horton Ten Sheepe Kind to what he formerly had for his full Porcon,
also I give unto Benja: Horton my Second Sone ten Sheep kinde, to what he had formerly for the full porcon,
also I give to my Eldest Daughter Hannah Trevally Ten Sheepe kinde as her -full Porcon,
also I give to my Daughter Sarah Concliynes Sone vizt. Joseph Conclyne five Sheepe kind for her full Porcon
also I give unto my third Daughter Mary Budd five Sheepe as her full Portion,
also I give & bequeath to Caleb Horton my third Sone One Horse kinde and the one halfe of all my Right in Accobauge after my wifes decease to what he had in Possession at Cochauge for his full Portion
also I give to Joshua Horton my fourth Sone all the House, Lands, Meadows, Orchard, and Common of Pasture wch was mine & now in his Possession and the one halfe of all my Meadows and Upland within the Bounds of Accobauge and all my meadow at Oyster Ponds - and one Horse kinde for his Porcon
also I give and bequeath to my Youngest Son Jonathan Horton all my dwelling Houses Barne, hout housing, Home-Lotts, Areable-Lands, Meadows - Allottmts & wtsoever else of Right belongs to my possession which is neither before nor after in this my Last Will and Testamt bequeathed or disposed of with this provise and Exception that the New House Remaine Soley to my wife for her use during her Life also that she have the use of the Barne and OutHouseing as need shall require, also that she have the third Bushell of all that grain wch ariseth & Groweth yearly upon my Lands paid her by my Sone Jonathan and also that he Winter & Sumer her foure Cowes Constantly but the Increase shall be his,
And further I give unto my Sone Jonathan two Bullocks,
also I give & bequeath unto my Youngest Daughter Mercy Youngs three Cowes & one Heifer But if there be not soe many left undisposed of Then she have the worth of those that shall be found wanting paid to her in some other good pay that shall be Equivalent to them, also a ffeather Bed with Bolster & Pillows one Coverlid two Blanketts and foure paire of Sheeets and also one great Brass Ketle, one Iron pott & foure pewter Disshes,
ffinally I give unto my well beloved Wife Mary Haorton all the rest of my Estate undisposed off,
and doe make and ordaine her Sole Executrix of this my last Will and Testamt for the full Confirmacion whereof I the abovesd Barnabas Horton doe hereunto sett my Hand and Seale the day and yeare first above written.
