Roger Giffard, son of Sir Thomas Giffard, Knt. and Elizabeth de Missenden, was born about 1367.1 He died at Twyford, Buckinghamshire, England, 14 April 1409.1

Roger married (1) Joan de Bereford before 6 July 1383;1 he married (2) Elizabeth (…) before 1399;1 he married (3) Isabel Stretele before 1407. The ancestry of all three wives is unknown (or not traced here).1

Roger Giffard was given a license to grant to Sybil, late wife of Thomas Giffard, for life, with remainder to said Roger in fee. Inquisitions post mortem show Roger held lands at Leisdon, co. Kent, at Twyford, co. Bucks, at Cogges, Bekbroke, and Newynton, co. Oxford, and at Helydon, co. Northampton, and that Thomas Giffard, aged one year and more in 1409 was his son and heir. The inquisition taken at Northampton in 1409 shows that the manor of Helydon had been settled on Roger Giffard and his second wife, Elizabeth, and their issue, and that the heir of Roger and Elizabeth was Katherine, aged ten years and more in 1409.1
