Leonard Towner, son of Ezra Towner and Jane Westbrook, was born at Pennsylvania, 2 May 1804.1,2,3,4,5,6 He died at Wichita, Sedgwick Co., Kansas, 25 August 1887,7,1,8,9 and was buried at Evergreen Cemetery, El Paso, Woodford Co., Illinois.1,10

Leonard married Julia Dewey, daughter of Justin Dewey and Desire Miller, say 1825.11

Leonard came from New Jersey to Ohio and from there to Ophir in 1833 where he married and settled to have 14 children. He was on the Building Committee and one of the first Trustees of the Methodist Church there.11
