Timothy Ford

Timothy Ford, son of Jacob Ford and Theodosia Johnes, was born at Morristown, Morris Co., New Jersey, 4 December 17621 and baptised there, 13 February 1763.2 He died at Charleston, Charleston Co., South Carolina, 27 December 1830.1
Timothy married (1) Sarah Amelia DeSaussure, daughter of Daniel DeSaussure and Mary McPherson, at Charleston, 17 January 1793;1 he married (2) Mary Magdelan Prioleau, daughter of Samuel Prioleau and Catherine Cordes, at Charleston, 20 November 1800.1
Timothy served in the revolutionary campaign of 1780, and was wounded twice at the battle of Springfield.
He received his M.A. from Princeton in 1782, and was admitted to the bar in New York. He went to South Carolina with his brother-in-law Henry De Saussure in 1785; his diary of that trip was printed in the South Carolina Hisorical and Genealogical Magazine, 13:132-147, 181-204.
He was admitted to the bar in South Carolina in 1786, served in the state legisature, and held other offices.
His will, dated 25 Jul 1827 and proved 27 Jan 1831, left his estate to his wife, to his two daughters Louisa Catherine and Mary Theodosia, to grandchild Mary Louisa. He gave his father's Revolutionary sword to nephew Frederick, son of his brother Jacob.1
