Alas how changed that lovely flower
Which bloom'd and cheer'd my heart,
Fair fleeting comfort of an hour
How soon we're called to part
O borne to bloom then sink beneath the storm
How has death conquer'd nature's fairest form,
When those we love do die, we die in part
String after string is sever'd from the heart.1
