Sir Gilbert de Segrave, Knt., son of Stephen de Segrave and Rohese le Despenser, was born before 1211, as presumably he was an adult when he was given custody the castle and manor of Newcastle-under-Lyme in 1232.1 He died at Pons, Poitou, France, 2 October 1254.2

Gilbert married Amabilia de Chaucombe, daughter of Sir Robert de Chaucombe, Knt. and Juliane de Cornhill, before 30 September 1231.2,3
