Edmund de Portington, Esq., son of Sir Nicholas de Portington, Knt., was born about 1315.1 He died after 1383, when he was a tax collector for the East Riding, Yorkshire.1
Without hard evidence, Hunt suggests Edmund's wife was an unnamed daughter of Robert Bosville and Joan de Furnival (daughter of Sir Thomas de Furnival Knt., 2nd Lord Furnival. Hunt's reasoning includes: the use of arms on his grandson's tomb, the use of martlets as an armorial device by his son, Thomas, and a close association between Bosvile descendants and later Portingtons. Richardson does not mention any such daughter.1,2
