Nathaniel Cowdrey, son of Deacon William Cowdrey and Joanna Licence, was born in 1630.1 He died at Reading, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, 16 June 1690.2,3

Nathaniel married (1) Elizabeth (…), whose parents are not known (or are untraced), at Reading, 22 November 1652;4,3,5 he married (2) Mary Bachelder, whose ancestry is unknown or not traced here, at Reading, 22 November 1660.4,3,5

On 22 Jan 1655/6, he deposed that he was about 26 years old. (Middlesex County Court Records).

In 1687, the town of Reading chose Nathaniel to be Town Clerk in place of his father who had just died. Nathaniel settled on Cowdery's Hill, so named for him. He was a deacon in the First Congregational Church of Reading.

His estate was valued at 85-16-00.3,1
