Sir John Clifford, Knt., 9th Lord Clifford, son of Thomas Clifford, 8th Lord Clifford and Joan Dacre, was born at Conisbrough Castle, Yorkshire, England, 8 April 1435.1 He was slain at the Battle of Towton, 28 March 1461.2

John married Margret Bromflete, daughter of Sir Henry Bromflete, Knt., Lord Vescy and Eleanor Fitz Hugh.3,2
