Ralph Lovel, whose ancestry is unproved, died about 1121, when he had been succeeded by his son Baldwin.1

In Domesday People, "…so it is possible that he [Ralph] was either Walter's [de Douai] grandson, so of Geoffrey, or Geoffrey's son-in-law. In Domesday Descendants, Ralph "was co-heir of Walter de Douai, lord of Brampton, c. 1107. Probably son of Walter's elder son Geoffrey." No reason is given for the change in certainty.1,2
