John Eaton, son of Thomas Eaton and Helen (…), was born probably shortly before his baptism at Hatton, Warwickshire, England, 26 December 1590.1 He died at Haverhill, Essex Co., Massachusetts, 29 October 1668.1
John married (1) Anne (…) at England, about 1620;1 he married (2), as her 2nd husband, Phebe (…) at Haverhill, 20 November 1661. The ancestry of both wives is unknown (or not traced here).1,2,3
John Eaton immigrated to Salisbury, Massachusetts about 1640. He was a cooper and was first granted land in Salisbury in 1640. His youngest child was granted land in Hatton, England in Sep 1639. He was made a Freeman in November 1645. He apparently was later added to a 1639 list of Salisbury proprietors. He removed to Haverhill, being a proprietor there in 1648. In April 1650 he was chosen and sworn clerk of the Haverhill market, and in April 1652, made "commissioner to end small causes." He served on a trial jury, 31 March 1646, and on a grand jury, September 1646. He appears in a few land records (Old Norfolk Co. Deeds, 1: 22, 44).
His will, dated 6 August 1660 and proved 13 2m [April] 1669, mentions
