Thomas Seymour

Thomas Seymour, son of Richard Seymour and Mercy Ruscoe, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Sawbridgeworth, Hertfordshire, England, 15 July 1632.1,2 He died at Norwalk, Connecticut, in 1712.1
Thomas married (1) Hannah Marvin, daughter of Matthew Marvin and Elizabeth (…), at Norwalk, January 1653/54;3,4,5 he married (2) Elizabeth (…), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), after 1680;1,6,5 he married (3) Sarah (…), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here).6,7
Thomas was brought to New England by his parents, when he was about six years old, and lived at Hartford, Conn., until about 1651, when he went with his parents to Norwalk. At his father's death in 1655, he was the only one of the children of age; and as his mother soon remarried and removed to Farmington, Conn., with her younger children, Thomas succeeded to his father's lands in Norwalk including the home which was across the street from the Marvin domicile. He had only been married a year before.
Thomas was nominated for freemanship on 10 October 1667, and doubtless took the oath six months later, as was usual, for he was reported among the freemen of Norwalk on 11 October 1669. With other heirs he signed an agreement on 6 November 1680, in behalf of his wife, relative to the settlement of the estate of her father, Mathew Marvin, whose will had made special bequests, among many others, to her and to Francis Bushnell of Norwalk who had recently married her oldest daughter, Hannah.
The will of Thomas dated 22 September 1712, and proved 7 November following, made kindly provision for his second wife who, during her widowhood, was to have the use of his home, barn, one half of the orchard, the west end of the home lot, meadow land and necessary household goods, his new Bible and "one paire of Curtains that she made since her living with me" as well as the estate that she brought with her.
He lived in Norwalk until his death. His will is dated 22 Sept 1712 and proved 7 Nov 1712.1,6
