Thomas Cornell is perhaps the son of George Cornwell and Susan Casse, baptized at Terling, Essex, England, 24 March 1593/94.1 He died at Portsmouth, Newport Co., Rhode Island, 1655.2

Thomas married Rebecca Briggs, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), at England, about 1622.2,3

That Thomas is the son of George Cornwell and Susan Casse is plausible, if not probable. Thomas named a couple of his children after his half-siblings, and one after his full brother, Joshua. This is an unusual name for this time and found in no other Cornell/Cornwell family groups. Also, Terling and Fairsted are adjacent to one another, and Saffron-Walden is not far (20 miles).4,1
