Rev. William Thompson left a nuncupative will dated 10 July 1623 and proved 5 March 1623/4 at the Prerogative Court of Canterbury, London, England, mentioning:
Presuming "brother-in-law Mr. White" is the same man as John White, Clerk, Greenlees points out that White officiated the marriage of John Broadhurst, Phyllis Cogswell (Rev. William Thompson's granddaughter), as well as baptizing all their children. White's will of 1671 included John Broadhurst and Phyllis "his nowe wife," as residuary legatees and executors. The will also mentioned their sons John and Edward as trinepotes [great nephews] as overseers, great-nephews Charles and Samuel Broadhurst, both under 21; and "cousin Phyllis Broadhurst," daughter of John Broadhurst. Greenlees also points out that Phyllis, first wife of William Thomson appears to be a sister or half-sister of Rev. John White, Clerk of Chirton.2
