John Severance, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born, say 1610.1 He died at Salisbury, Essex Co., Massachusetts, 9 April 1682.2

John married (1) Abigail Kimball, daughter of Richard Kimball and Ursula Scott, at England, about 1636;3,4,5 he married (2), probably as her 2nd husband, Susanna (…), whose parents are unknown (or untraced), at Salisbury, 2 October 1663.6

He was variously described as a planter, victualler and vintner. Was of Ipswich in 1636, received land in Salisbury in the "first division," 1639, 1640, and 1654. Licensed to keep the "ordinary" in Salisbury in 1662, 1663, and 1665 as well as later. Took the oath of fidelity in 1667.

Will was dated 7 Apr and proved 9 May 1682 and mentioned his wife Susanna.6,7
