Elizabeth Grafton, daughter of Joseph Grafton and Mary Moore, was born at England, about 1622.1 She died at Salem, Essex Co., Massachusetts, 3 March 1678/79.1
Elizabeth married (1) John Saunders, before 1640;2 she married (2), as his 2nd wife, John Kitchin, before 1645. The ancestry of both men is unknown (or not traced here).3,4
Elizabeth testified 1 November 1675, "that she was then aged 53 years and she was probably born in England by the first wife of Captain Joseph Grafton." Joseph was styled "singleman" in the record of his marriage to Mary (Moore) Howfield. Does this perhaps indicate Elizabeth was really the daughter of Howfield and Mary Moore and that Joseph Grafton had taken Elizabeth as his own daughter after his marriage to Mary?5,2
