Mary Pecker
Mary Pecker, daughter of James Pecker and Susannah Harwood, was born at Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, 15 September 1720.1 She died at Concord, Middlesex Co., Massachusetts, 23 December 1795.2
Mary married Emerson Cogswell, son of William Cogswell and Martha Emerson, at Ipswich, Essex Co., Massachusetts, 30 December 1736.3,1
Her uncle Daniel was appointed guardian in 1634, but on 16 Sep 1735, he was replaced with Bridget's new husband. At this point, Mary was an orphan, living with a step-mother and step-father. It is not surprising to find her "married off" the next year at age 16.
She lived with her son Emerson as a widow for many years and to a "great age." She ran a school in the house, and her grandchildren attended it.4,1
