Sir Hugh de Courtenay, Knt., 9th Earl of Devon, 1st Lord Courtenay, son of Sir Hugh de Courtenay, Knt. and Eleanor le Despenser, was born 14 September 1276.1 He died 23 December 1340.1 Both he and his wife were buried at Cowick Priory, Exeter, Devonshire, England.2

Hugh married Agnes de Saint John, daughter of Sir John de Saint John, Knt. and Alice Fitz Reynold, in 1292.1
