ChartsAncestors of William Jerome Pierce
Richard Pomeroy, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born at Dorset, England, about 1550.1 He died at Beaminster, Dorset, England, before 1635.1

Richard married Mary (…), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), say 1590.1

At one time Richard Pomeroy was thought to have been descended from the Pomeroy family of Beery Pomeroy, Devon. However, the claim was fraudulent, based on an alteration of an otherwise authentic pedigree (Harleian Ms., 1091). Jacobus does a thorough analysis of the conflicting claims, and draws on the research of Elizabeth French, conducted 20 years earlier. There simply is no, or at least not enough, evidence to identify the ancestry of Richard on Beaminster.

What is known of Richard of Beaminster is little enough. His name appears in the parish registers when his sons were baptized, and apparently nothing more. The Poor Book of Beaminster mentions Mary Pomeroy, widow and the death of Henry Pomeroy (assuredly her son). They were both assisted by the parish in 1635 so Richard is presumed dead by this time.2,3,4
