Gaspard Karner to Dora Myrtle (Woolsey) Smith
Gaspard Gueruer, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born at France, say 1665.1 He died at King William Parish, Manakin, Henrico Co., Virginia, between 1717 and 1719.2

Gaspard married, say 1690, but her name is unknown.1

He first appears in a list of the passengers aboard the Peter and Anthony, the second ship to bring French refugees to Virginia, arriving in September, 1700. He is shown as " Gaspar Gueruer, sa femme and 3 enfans" for a total of 5, including, presumably, a wife and 3 children who are not named.3

A second list of those who actually arrived at Manakin prepared a little later includes the same entry, but spells the name "Kernent".4

"Gerner, his wife and 3 children" are listed as one of those to receive a monthly allotment of one bushel of "Indian Meale".5

A later document (undated, but probably made about 1714) listed French Protestant refugees and included Gaspard Gorner, his wife, and one son. Jean Gorner was listed separately, no wife or child.6

He is not shown in the list of tithables for King William Parish in 1713 or 1714, but in 1715, "Gaspard Gorn." along with John G. Garner and Jean Dupre are shown, listed together for a total of three. A Jean Garner is listed separately.7 In 1717, the names and listings are similar: "Gaspard Korner, John Gaspard Korner, John Dupre" are listed together, and "John Korner" is listed separately. This is the last known record of Gaspard.8
