Francis Green Gilpin, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born say 1745. He died at Bedford Co., Virginia, before 27 February 1826, when his will was proved.1

Francis had an unknown first wife who was the mother of his first 11 children; he married (2) Elizabeth Durrett at Bedford Co., 12 June 1809.1,2

Francis was living at Washington Co., Maryland, when he signed the Oath of Fidelity and Support to the state of Maryland in 1778 as "Francis Green Gilpin."3
