Enguerrand II, Count of Ponthieu, son of Hugh II, Count of Ponthieu and Bertha of Aumale, was killed in battle at Château d'Arques, France, 25 October 1053.1,2

Enguerrand married Adelaide, Countess of Aumale, daughter of Robert I "the Magnificent," Duke of Normandy, about 1045.3,4 The marriage of Enguerrand and Adelaide was probably annulled about 1049/50 after the Council of Reims excommunicated Enguerrand on grounds of incest, "evidently because Enguerrand's sister had been married to Adelaide's uncle."5
