John Farrington, son of Edmund Farrington and Elizabeth Newhall, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Olney, Buckinghamshire, England, in 1622.1,2,3 He died at Lynn, Essex Co., Massachusetts, 2 May 1666.2

John married Elizabeth Knight, daughter of William Knight and Elizabeth (…), say 1661.2,4,5

John died intestate and administration was granted to the widow Elizabeth who returned an inventory amounting to £250 7s 3p; the distribution was ordered later. The inventory included the water mill, dam, floodgates, mill house, etc "being in equal partnership with Edmond Farrington, the one-half belonging to the deceased (95 pounds); the old house, unfinished (1/2 being to the deceased), a barn not finished, a cow house, 9acres of land adjoining the house, 6 acres marsh, various cows, oxen, steers, lambs, etc., husbandry tools and household goods. Total 243 pounds, 6 shillings. The inventory was allowed and on 27 November 1666 ordered paid: to Edward the eldest £60; to John £30;and to Jacob £30 at age twenty-one. The remainder was to go to the widow and the whole estate was to remain in her hands for the bringing up of the children.6
