Daniel Comstock

Daniel Comstock, son of William Comstock and Elizabeth Daniel, was born in 1630.1 He died at New London, Connecticut, before 13 November 1683.1
Daniel married Paltiah Elderkin, daughter of John Elderkin and Abigail Kingsland, about 1653.1,2
Daniel Comstock acknowledges a free grant of 25 acres from Providence, 29 Jan 1646.
On 24 Jun 1648, he and some other young men were arrested for giving a false Indian alarm.
Benjamin Smith and "Dan Cumbstock" offered their houses and land to Providence for sale, 2 Jun 1655. Providence ordered that Henry Neale have a six acre lot laid out to him to adjoin the meadow that he had bought from "Dan Combstock", 27 Jan 1656/7.
At New London, he was given 100 acres of upland by the Sawmill brook, 19 Dec 1658. In 1664 he purchased a farm at Oxoboro near Uncasville. Some of this property remained in the family as late as 1931, and the Comstock Cemetery is located here.
He served in the Narragansett War, 1676.
The inventory of his estate was presented 13 Nov 1683 and included 150 acres bought of Mr. Loveland, 100 acres above Sawmill brook, and 100 acres given by the town above Sawmill brook "and forgotten in the inventory: 221 pounds, 17 shillings and 6 pence." Adminstration granted to widow "Paltiell" to bring up the children, 'till Court order otherwise."
On 9 Oct 1696, Samuel Young and Thomas Halliox directed their mother, "to pay our patrimony due us, to our brother, Peter Strickland," and 17 Dec 1697, he receipted to his brother-in-law, "Daniel Comstock, administrator of his father, Daniel Comstock, for twelve pounds, for Samuel Young and Thomas Halliox of Southold, L. I., as their wives' part of the estate of their father, Daniel Comstock, deceased."1
