William de la Pole, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), died 13 June 1366,1 and was buried at Trinity Church, Kingston-upon-Hull, Suffolk, England.2

William married Katherine (…), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here).2

As a merchant, William de la Pole gained wealth in the king's service by the export of wool. He frequently represented Hull as M.P., and was mayor of that town in 1333 and 1335. From 1339 to 1349 he was described as "Lord of Holderness, knight and merchant." Appointed 2nd Baron of the Exchequer in 1339, he was arrested several times over questions concerning his accounts, but by 1355 he had been made a knight baneret for his services in lending money to the king.2
