Herbert I "Wake-dog," Count of Maine, son of Hugh III, Count of Maine, died 13 April 1036.1
Moriarty shows Herbert as father of Paula, probably following Latouche, cited by Baldwin. Baldwin gives four possibilities, two less likely, and two others (including this one), as merely possible, concluding, "it does not seem possible to single out one of the scenarios as being obviously preferable."2,1
