Maria McFarlan, daughter of William McFarlan and Abigail Cook, was born at New York, about 1804.1,2 She died 2 November 1856,1 and was buried at the First Presbyterian Church of Hanover Cemetery, Hanover, Morris Co., New Jersey, where her stone is inscribed:

and star never fade's,
Where the dark tne the bitter ne'er
blend with the sweet,
And there in the garlands of glory arrayed,
Sister dear! Sister dear! will we joyfully meet.
