Samuel Smith, son of John Smith and Mary Gardiner, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Burstall, Suffolk, England, 6 September 1601.1,2 He died at Hadley, Hampshire Co., Massachusetts, before 17 January 1680/81, when his estate was inventoried.1

Samuel married Elizabeth Smith, whose ancestry not yet traced here, at St. Margaret's, Whatfield, Suffolk, England, 6 October 1624.1,3,2
