Solomon Norman, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born at South Carolina, in 1804.1,2,3,4,5 He died at Caldwell Co., Kentucky, before 25 August 1873, when administration was granted on his estate.6 He was buried at Wild Cemetery, Caldwell Co., Kentucky.7

Solomon perhaps first married an Indian girl, say 1829;8 he married (2), as her 2nd husband, Mahala (…), at Caldwell Co., 27 June 1842. The ancestry of both wives is unknown (or not traced here).9,10

He appears to be the Solomon Norman enumnerated in Franklin Co., Illinois in 1830. In 1838 he sold his personal property (livestock and tack) to John Sanders, both of Franklin Co. By 1840, he appears in Caldwell Co., Kentucky.

After living in Tennessee and Illinois, Solomon brought his family to Caldwell Co. in 1853 [sic]. In the 1850s, they bought a 100-acre farm located five miles north of Princeton on the waters of Donaldson Creek. Later the farm was divided and conveyed to his sons-in-law, John Sheridan and Francis Bodard.

He spoke Cherokee to his wife and daughters.

Soloman was coming home from town when the wagon became stuck in a mud hole. While trying to get out, the oxen lunged and the wagon ran over him and killed him. He left no will but the inventory and sale of his estate is listed in Book N, page 190, dated Sep 1873.11,7,12,13,4,5,14
