Sir William de Ferrers, 5th Lord Ferrers of Groby, son of Sir Henry de Ferrers, Knt., 4th Lord Ferrers of Groby and Joan de Poynings, was born probably shortly before his baptism at Luton, Bedfordshire, England, 25 April 1372.1 He died 18 May 1445.1 In his will, he requested burial at Ulverscroft Priory, Leicestershire, England.1

William married (1) Philippe de Clifford, daughter of Sir Roger de Clifford, Knt., 5th Lord Clifford and Maud de Beauchamp, after 10 October 1388;1 he married (2) Margaret de Montagu, daughter of Sir John Montagu, K.G., 3rd Earl of Salisbury, Lord Montagu and Maud Fraunceys, probably well before 9 August 1416;1 he married (3), as her 3rd husband, Elizabeth Standish, whose ancestry is not traced here, before 26 October 1416.1
