Henry Smith, whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), was born at England, say 1619.1 He died at Stamford, Connecticut, July 1687.1,2

Henry married, as her 2nd husband, Ann (…), whose ancestry is unknown (or not traced here), at Boston, Suffolk Co., Massachusetts, about 1664.1,2,3

Various theories have tried to identify Henry with several other known Henry Smith's in the colonies or in England, however those have all been disproven. He did serve in the Pequot war in 1635, the General Assembly of Connecticut having granted him 80 acres of land on 11 May 1671. Although not specifically identified in the grant as being the Henry of Stamford, he was the only one available. Rev. Henry Smith of Weathersfield arrived too late to serve (around 1636-1637) and died in 1648.1,3
