Francis Bushnell, son of Lieutenant William Bushnell and Rebecca Chapman, was born at Guilford, Connecticut, 6 January 1649.1 He died at Danbury, Connecticut, 1697.1,2
Francis married Hannah Seymour, daughter of Thomas Seymour and Hannah Marvin, at Norwalk, Connecticut, 12 October 1675.3,1,4,5
Sometimes named as a son of his uncle Richard, Francis settled in Danbury about 1685, where he died. His inventory was made in Oct 1697; Samuel Knapp of Danbury made oath. Administration was granted to Samuel Pickett and Samuel Knapp. The seven children were named, all under 18. Abigail chose Ens. Thomas Taylor as guardian.
Francis was a resident of Norwalk as early as 1671 which was where Richard lived, but Richard's 1659 will only listed two sons, Joseph and Richard. Since he lived in the same town, it is a natural error to identify Francis with the family of Richard. Francis is also sometimes confused with his uncle Francis, and erroneously said to have died young.1,6,7
