Joseph Hopkins, son of Joseph Hopkins and Phoebe (…), was born at North Kingstown, Washington Co., Rhode Island, 8 April 1698.1,2 He died in 1741.2

“ . . . in consideration of the love and affection I have & do for unto my son Joseph Hopkins,” Joseph Hopkins gave a tract of land, estimated at 33 acres to his son. The deed was made 20 July 1725, recorded 29 March 1726.3

Just three days after recording the deed from his father for the 33 acres, Joseph Jr. sold the land for £55 to Henry Hill. One has to wonder if this act has some bearing on his being left but 5 shillings in his father's will.4
