William Cotton, son of Walter Cotton and Joan Rede, was born at London, England, between 1410 and 1411.1 He was killed at the battle of St. Albans at the beginning of the War of the Roses, 22 May 1455,2,1 and was buried at Landwade, Cambridgeshire, England, where there is a brass plate on his tomb.1,2

William married Alice Abbot, daughter of John Abbot and Agnes (…), say 1435.1,3,2

He was a London mercer and Vice Chamberlain to Henry VI.1,2
